This privacy policy explains how Nutrition Experts Pty Ltd (trading as Foodzone) collects, uses, and protects your personal information when you use our health tracking service.
Who we are
We are Nutrition Experts Pty Ltd, an Australian company operating the Foodzone health tracking platform. You can contact us at help@foodzone.io.
Information we collect
Account information
- Email address (for sign in and notifications)
- Name (optional, for personalisation)
Nutrition and health data
- Health action entries (food, exercise, supplements, measurements)
- Profile information (age, weight, activity level)
- Custom foods, recipes, and routines you create
- Health goals and targets
- Photos and product details you submit as public food suggestions
Technical information
- Browser type and device information
- IP address (for security and regional settings)
- Usage patterns (pages visited, features used)
How we use your information
- Provide and improve the Foodzone service
- Send you verification codes and important account notifications
- Respond to your support requests
- Ensure security and prevent fraud

Aggregated and anonymised data
We may use aggregated, anonymised data that does not identify you personally to:
- Improve our services and develop new features
- Understand usage patterns and trends
- Provide better suggestions and insights

This data cannot be linked back to you and helps us build a better product for everyone.
What we share — and what we don't
We do not sell your personal information. We do not publish your diary, your custom foods, your recipes, or the photos you add to them. Those are private to your account.
Your information leaves your account in only three ways:
- People you share with. If you connect with a practitioner or join a team, they see the data you have chosen to share with them. You can end that at any time.
- Service providers. The companies listed below, which process data on our behalf so that Foodzone can run.
- Foods you suggest for everyone. Suggesting a food for the public food database is a deliberate public contribution — see below.
Public food suggestions
Suggesting a food is the one part of Foodzone where what you send becomes public. When you suggest a product, report a problem with one, or add a photo to a food, you are contributing to a food database that everyone uses.
- We publish the food information and the product photos, once a reviewer has checked them and cleaned them up.
- We do not publish your name. We record who contributed so that we can award contribution rewards.
- Your photos are visible to our reviewers, and label photos are sent to Anthropic to read the nutrition panel.
- Location data is stripped from every photo when you upload it.
Nothing from your diary, your custom foods or your recipes is included in a suggestion. Only what you send us on the suggestion screen is shared.
Service providers
We use trusted third-party services to operate Foodzone:
- Cloudflare — Hosting, database, email delivery, security, and analytics (Global)
- PostHog — Product analytics and optional privacy-masked session replay (USA)
- Stripe — Payment processing (USA)
- Anthropic — Reading nutrition labels from photos you submit with a public food suggestion (USA)
These providers only access data necessary to perform their services and are bound by their own privacy policies.
Data storage and security
Your data is stored securely on Cloudflare's infrastructure. We use encryption in transit (HTTPS) and implement security measures to protect against unauthorised access.
While we are an Australian company, some data may be processed in other countries where our service providers operate. We ensure these providers maintain appropriate security standards.
Data retention
We keep your data for as long as you have an active account. If you delete your account, we will delete your personal data within 30 days, except where we need to retain it for legal or security purposes.
Food suggestions still under review are deleted with your account. Contributions already accepted into the public food database stay, with your name detached from them.
Your rights
Under Australian privacy law, you have the right to:
- Access your personal information
- Correct inaccurate information
- Request deletion of your data
- Export your data
- Withdraw consent for optional processing

Cookies and analytics
We use essential cookies to keep you signed in and remember your preferences. We do not use advertising cookies.
We use Cloudflare Analytics to understand how people use Foodzone. This is a privacy-focused analytics service that does not use cookies or track you across websites.
For signed-in users, we use product analytics to understand which parts of Foodzone are useful and where people get stuck. Product analytics is enabled by default. You can turn it off at any time in your account settings, and Foodzone works normally if you do. Session recordings are separate and remain off unless you choose to enable them.
When product usage analytics is enabled, PostHog receives an internal account identifier, page and feature usage, browser and device information, and interaction events. We do not send your email address, nutrition entries, health entries, or text you type to PostHog. If you also enable session recordings, all visible page text and form inputs are masked and URL query strings are removed before data leaves your device.
When product analytics is enabled, PostHog uses local browser storage to maintain a session and processes this data in the United States. Foodzone also honours your browser's Do Not Track setting. You can change your analytics and recording choices at any time in your account settings.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes via email or through the service.
